The aim of the Department is to study the history, literature, language and culture of Georgia, to create corresponding projects, necessary textbooks and manuals, dictionaries, to prepare Armenian specialists of Georgian studies, to make closer scientific and educational relations between Yerevan State University and Georgian State University.

Research works are mainly devoted to the problems of the Armenian-Georgian linguistic  and lexicographic, two-sided translations, Armenian-Georgian literal-historical and cultural connections, preparing translation into Armenian and publication of most important Georgian works connected with Armenian studies. 

The head of the center is PhD in Philology, Associate professor Hrachik Bayramyan.
