On Aprl 9, 2015 Republican Youth Conference, dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide was held in YSU Hall after Palyans. It was organized by the support of YSU Commission on Coordinating the Events Dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.  

   The opening speech was delivered  by YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, YSU SSS Chairman Mikayel Malkhasyan, dean of YSU Faculty of History Edik Minasyan. 

   “YSU organizes various events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and student and youth conferences are of special importance too. This is the best method to allow younger generations to speak, study, analyze the Armenian Genocide from different perspectives and represent it”,-noticed R. Markosyan.  

   YSU SSS chairman Mikayel Malkhasyan  noted they had received 102 applications for the participation in the conference but only 24 of them were selected. The conference was held in 3 sessions: 1.“Legal and socio-psychological problems of the Armenian Genocide”, 2.“The Armenian Genocide in press and literature”, 3. “Historical issues of the Armenian Genocide”.

   Students from YSU Faculties of Law, Philosophy and Psychology, Romance-Germanic Philology, International Relations, Armenian Philology, Sociology, Journalism, History, Russian Philology, from the Institute for Armenian Studies delivered their reports in the conference. The sessions were conducted by specialized committees composed of the corresponding faculty lecturers. 

  The issues of the denial policy of the Armenian genocide were discussed in reports from the legal aspect.  There were also articles on the legal aspects of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the UN Conventions regarding the Prevention and Punishment of the Genocide as a Crime, the role of the Genocide in the formation of the national identity. The issue was also discussed from psychological, socio-cultural perspective. 

   In the session “Armenian Genocide in press and literature”, the experience of the Armenian great writers, the testimonies of the eye-witnesses, the issues of the Western Armenian refugees were represented. The third session was on the historical issues of the Armenian Genocide. The Armenian Genocide was represented from the viewpoint of the famous foreign state and political figures, the parallels were drawn between the Armenian Genocide and Holocaust. The trial of the Young Turks, process of the legal responsibility for the denial of the Armenian Genocide in European countries, etc were also discussed. At the end of the conference participants received certificates of participation.
