  On the initiative of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia and Yerevan State University the opening ceremony of the Summer School "Diaspora" took place in the Cultural hall of YSU on July 21, 2015. It must be noted that it is the fifth time this Summer School has been organized in Armenia.  

77 participants from 13 countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Iran, Belgium, Germany, France, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, the United States, Kazakhstan) are involved in the thematic directions of summer school; "Journalists of the Diaspora", "National Song and Dance chorus masters and choreographers " and "Young Leaders from the Diaspora”.

The event was opened by the speech of the Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs of Ministry of Diaspora Gagik Gyanjumyan, who noted the importance of the active participation of the youth  in summer school and congratulated the participants on the occasion of the start of the program.

 Deputy Director of the Institute for Armenian Studies Mher Hovhannisyan expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Diaspora to Armenia for cooperation on behalf of YSU, and wished the participants fruitful and active work.

Then the head of the Summer School "Diaspora", Kamo Atayan, noted in his speech that such programs are important because they give the participants the opportunity to deepen their professional knowledge, to see and learn their homeland, to acquire new skills. According to him, the program gives an opportunity to acquire new acquaintances and to cooperate with each other in different parts of the world.

At the end of the ceremony the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of YSU Nagash Martirosyan delievered his speech. He expressed his gratitude to the Minister of the Armenian Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, who gave the idea of organizing summer school "Diaspora" in 2010, during the 5th Pan-Armenian Conference of Journalists in Artsakh and it is now a done work. The complete program was discussed, approved and implemented in several ways.  Martirosyan urged the participants to take only good, positive things from their homeland, and from the first day start the journalistic activities and share the impressions received.
